Riverside is an 11-16 Business & Enterprise College situated on the western side of a busy, thriving multi-cultural city. The college draws its students predominantly from the Narborough Road/Rowley Fields and Braunstone areas.

The most recent inspection report in March 2010 praised the college for its continued improvement since the last inspection. In particular the report mentions the hard work of a committed staff. Curriculum provision was particularly highlighted, as was the strong inclusive culture within the college. Relationships between students and staff, as well as student’s attitude and behaviour also received significant praise, which recognised the strong and extensive support and guidance programme the college has in place as well as our commitment to developing pupils understanding of healthy lifestyles.

Last year the college gained the best examination results in its history. Improving from 21% 5 A*-C including English and Mathematics to 37% with 47% of students leaving with at least 5 A*-C GSCE grades. This year we are on course to exceed these results.

Unfortunately the local authority has decided to close the college in July 2011 and as a result of the decision we are no longer able to admit any students. Ofsted recognised the detailed plans that we have in place and the continued commitment of an excellent staff and students to maintaining high standards and improved student outcomes.
